Adding a custom column to filter the tasks of the current month in MS Project Pro
Create a custom column to create a report and a filter for highlighting outstanding tasks of the current month.
Steps to add a custom column to filter the tasks of the current month in MS Project Pro:
- Click the "Project" item in the top menu.
- Click the "Custom Fields" button in the "Properties" block.
- Click the "Task" box in the "Field" block.
- Select the "Flag" in the "Type:" field.
- Select en empty field in the list.
- Click the "Rename..." button.
- Enter the field name in the "Rename Field" window. (For example "Current period")
- Click the "Formula ..." button in the "Custom attributes" block.
- Enter the formula: "IIf((Val(DatePart("yyyy";[Start])*100+DatePart("m";[Start]))>Val(DatePart("yyyy";Now())*100+DatePart("m";Now())));False;True)"
- Click the "Use formula" box in the "Calculation for task and group summary rows" block.
- Click the "Ok" buttom.

Adding filtering for outstanding tasks of the current month in MS Project Pro

- Open the "Filter" field in the "Data" block.
- Click the "More Filters ..." button.
- Click the "New ..." button.
- Enter the name in the "Name:" field. (For example "Current task").

- Set the "100%" in the "Value(s)" field.

- Select the "% product" in the "Field Name" column.

- Set the "100" in the "Value(s)" field.

- Set a "And" in the "And/Or" field on the bottom field.

- Select the "Finish Variance" in the "Field Name" column.
- Set the "equal" in the "Test" field.
- Set the "0" in the "Value(s)" field.
- Add a new row below.
- Set a "Or" in the "And/Or" field.
- Select the "Cost Variance" in the "Field Name" column.
- Set the "equal" in the "Test" field.
- Set the "0" in the "Value(s)" field.
- Click the "Ok" button.

Steps to add a table to a report on tasks for the current month in MS Project Pro:
- Click the "Report" item in the top menu.
- Create the report.
- Click the "Report Design" item in the top menu.
- Click the "Table" button in the "Insert" block.
- Click the "Table Desigen" item in the top menu.
- Click the "Table Date" button in the "Show/Hide" group.
- Select the "Task" in the "Field List" block.
- Click on the required fields in the "Select Field" box. Select fields: "Name", "Critical", "% Complete", "% product", "Cost Variance", "Finish Variance" and "Resource Names".
- Choose the "Current task" in the "Filter" field.
- Set the "All Subtasks" in the "Outline Level" field.
- Click the "Show Hierarchy" box.
