Creating resources in the MS Project Pro

You can add three type of resources in the MS Project:

• Work. For this type resource you have pay for a hour.
• Material. For this resource type you have to pay per unit.
• Cost. For this type of resource, you must specify costs.

Steps to create resources in the Project:

1. Click the button "Grantt Chart" in the top menu in the item "Task".
2. Choose the item "Resource Sheet".
3. Enter the name resource in the field "Resource Name".
4. Choose the resource type in the field "Type".
5. If you choose the resource type "Material" you will set dimension in the field "Material".
6. You can set the name of resource group in the field "Group".
7. If you choose the resource type "Work" you will set participation percentage in the field "Max". The one man in full time is a 100%.

Creating a custom resource breakdown structure (RBS) column in MS Project Pro

You can use the custom resource breakdown structure column for filter and group.

Steps to create a custom resource breakdown structure column in MS Project Pro:

1. Click the "Project" button in the top menu.
2. Click the "Custom Fields" button in the "Properties" block.
3. Click the "Resource" box.
4. Select the "Outline Code" in the "Type" field.
5. Select an empty field and rename it by click the "Rename ..." button.
6. Set the list of values by clicking the "Lookup ..." button.
7. Set the mask by clicking the "Edit Mask ..." button.
8. Set the mask level and type of mask code in the "Code mask" block.
9. Click the "Ok" button.
10. Set the list of cost types in the "Lookup table" block. (Read more "Adding the custom fields in MS Project Pro").
11. Set the default value.
12. Click the "Close" button in the "Edit lookup Table for Cost Type" window.
13. Click the "Ok" button in the "Custom Fields" window.
