Using task mode in MS Project Pro

You can use the task mode to plan a project when information is lacking. You can add information to the project as you receive it.

Steps to use task mode in MS Project Pro:

  • Add the "Task Mode" column.
  • Set the "Manually Scheduled" for the tasks.
  • Set the information in columns (Duration, Start, Finish).
  • For a summary task, you may see a red line if the calculated duration is greater than. If the calculation duration is less than or equal to the duration of the summary task, a cyan line will be displayed.
  • Conflicting column values are displayed with a red waveline.

  1. Click the "File" item of the top menu
  2. Click the "Options" item of the left menu.
  3. Click the "Schedule" item of the left menu in the "Project Options" window.
  4. Select the name project ot the "All New Project" item in the "Sheduling options for this project:" block.
  5. Select the task mode in the "New tasks created:" field.
  6. Click the "Ok" button.
