Creating a contractor monitoring view in MS Project Server

Steps to create a contractor monitoring view in MS Project Server:

  1. Click the "Server Settings" item in the left menu.
  2. Click the "Manage Views" item in the "Look and Feel" block.
  3. To create the custom view, click the "New View" button.
  4. Select the "Resource Assignments" in the "View Type:" field.
  5. Enter the view name in the "Name" field. For example "Cost Assignments".
  6. Enter the view description in the "Description" field.
  7. Selcet the table type in the "Table" block. For example:
    • "% Work Complete".
    • 'Task Name".
    • "Baseline Cost".
    • "Cost".
    • "Active Cost".
  8. Select a grant chart in the "Gantt Chart format" field.
  9. Set the  left offset in the "Left offset for the splitter bar:" field.
  10. Set the "All Outline" in the "Show" field.
  11. Set the grouping format in the "Grouping" block. Set fields: "Resource Name" and "Project name"
  12. To save click the "Save" button.

Steps to monitor contractors in MS Project Server

  1. Open MS Project Server.
  2. Click the "Resources" item in left menu.
  3. Select contractors.
  4. Click the "RESOURCES" item in the top menu.
  5. Click the "Resource Assignments" item in the "Navigate" block.
  6. Click the "Gantt Chart" button.
  7. Choose the "Cost Assignments" in the "View" field.
  8. To change zoom Gantt chart click the "Zoom In" button or the "Zoom Out" button.
  9. To show the task bar, select the task and click the "Scroll to Task" button in the "Zoom" block.
  10. To change the level click the "Outline" button in the "Data" block.
  11. To set up the filter in the "Filter:" field.
  12. To set up the group in the "Group:" field.
  13. To show summary tasks click the "Summary Tasks" box.
  14. To show the time with date click the "Time and Date" box.
  15. To export date to Excel click the "Export to Excel" button.
  16. To print date click the "Print" button.
  17. To return click the "Resource Assignments" button in the "Navigate" block.
