Creating financial indicators in MS Project Server

Steps to create financial indicators: "Income", "Profit" and "ROI" in MS Project Server

  1. Open MS Project Server
  2. Click the "Server Settings" item in the left menu.
  3. Click the "Enterprise Custom Fields and Lookup Tables" item in the "Enterprise Data" block.
  4. To create the custom fields, click the "New Field" button.
  5. Enter the field name in the "Name" field. For example: "Income", "Profit" and "ROI"
  6. Enter the field description in the "Description" field. 
  7. Select the "Project" in the "Entity" field.
  8. Select the "Cost" in the "Type" field.
  9. For the custom column: "Profit":
    1. Select the Formula in the "Custom Attributes" block.
    2. Enter the formula: "[Income] - [Cost]".
  10. For the custom column "ROI":
    1. Select the Formula in the "Custom Attributes" block.
    2. Enter the formula: "IIf([Cost] = 0, 0, [Income] / [Cost])".
  11. To save click the "Save" button.

  1. Click the "Server Settings" item in the left menu.
  2. Click the "Manage Views" item in the "Look and Feel" block.
  3. Click the "Cost" view in the "Project Center" block.
  4. Add columns: "Income", "Cost", "Profit" and "ROI" in the "Fields" block.
  5. To save click the "Save" button.

  2. Click the "PROJECT" item in the top menu.

  1. Click the "Projects" item in the left menu.
  2. Select the project and click the project name.
  3. Click the "Project Details" item in the left menu. 
  4. If you want to enter the project income, click the "Edit" button in the top menu.
  5. To save click the "Save" button.
