Adding new tasks to the plan in MS Project Server
The project schedule can be edited directly on MS Project Server.
Steps to add new tasks to the plan in MS Project Server:
- Open a project plan. Click the "Projects" item in the left menu and click the project name.
- Click the "Schedule" item in the left menu.
- Click the "TASK" tub in the top menu.
- Click the "Edit" button in the "Project" block.
- Click the "In Browser" item.
- You can add a new task at the bottom of the project. The bottom task is empty. You can edit this empty task.
- You can add task in the any plan place. Stand on the next task. Click the "Insert" button in the "Tasks" block.
- You can copy tasks data. Stand on the bottom task and click the "Copy" button.
- You can set up the task type, click buttons: "Manually Schedule" or "Auto Schedule".
- Click the "Save" button in the "Project" block.
- If you want publish a plan, click the "Publish" button in the "Project" block.
- Click the "Close" button in the "Project" block.
- Select the "Check it in" box and click the "Ok" button.

Steps to edit tasks in MS Project Server:
- Open a project plan. Click the "Projects" item in the left menu and click the project name.

- If you want publish a plan, click the "Publish" button in the "Project" block.
- Click the "Close" button in the "Project" block.
- Select the "Check it in" box and click the "Ok" button.
Setting the default task mode for new projects in MS Project Server
Steps to set up the "Manually Scheduled" mode in MS Project Server:
- Click the "Server Settings" item in the left menu.
- Click the "Additional Server Settings" link in the "Operational Policies" block.
- Click the "Manually Scheduled" box in the "Task Mode Settings" block.
- Click the "Ok" button.
