Setting the general server settings in MS Project Server

Steps to set up the general server settings in MS Project Server:

1. Click the "Server Settings" item in the left menu.
2. Click the "Operational Policies" link in the "Additional Server Settings" block.
   • You can set up app for manager users and users group in the "Permission Magagment" block.
   • if you want to manage users and groups directly in SharePoint, click the "Project Permission Mode" box.
3. if you want to manage users, groups, and categories, in Project Web App, click the "Manage users and groups directly in SharePoint" box
4. You can allow project managers to save master projects. A Master project is a project has inserted other projects. For this click the "Allow master projects to be saved and published" box in the "Enterprise Settings" block.
5. You can allow project managers to use local base calendars. For this click the "Allow projects to use local base calendars" box in the "Enterprise Settings" block.
6. You can set up a default currency for all projects in the "Default currency" field.
   • You can allow projects to be published in various currencies, click the "Allow projects to be published in various currencies" box.
   • If project managers must publish their project in the default currency, check the "Enforce that projects are published in the default currency" box.

Steps to set up the general server settings in MS Project Server:

1. You can set the time period for resource capacity reporting in the "Resource Capacity Settings" block. On dates outside the set period, you can get resource capacity. 
   • Set the number of months after the current date in the "Months behind" field.
   • Set the number of months ahead the current date in the "Months ahead" field.
2. You can set the approach for calculating the resource full time equivalent in "Full-time Equivalent Calculation" block.
   • If you want to use the resource calendar, check the "Resource base calendars" box.
   • If you want to set the number of hours per day, check the "Hours per day" box.
3. You can allow the publication of manually scheduled tasks for team members, click the "Manually Scheduled tasks can be published to team members" box.
4. You can set the task mode for new project.
   • if you want to set manually scheduled mode click the "Manually Scheduled" box,
   • if you want to set automatically scheduled mode click the "Automatically Scheduled" box,
   • You can let users override defaults in Project Professional, click the "Users can override default in Project Professional" box.
5. You can allow users to subscribe to alerts and reminders Click the "Turn on notifications" box.
6. Click the "Save" button.
